Our New Grand Piano
Last year, we entered into a purchase agreement for a stunning Kawai grand. It is a beautiful instrument, and it's permanent home is at The Bucksport Performing Arts Center.
We are not pleased to report that we have been struggling to complete the purchase of this instrument. We do appreciate all of the people who have helped us to date, and hope that everyone can hear this in all its glory at The Center. You may donate immediately to our special Piano Fund using Paypal:
Grand Proscenium Valance
After we finalize the grand piano purchase, we will be moving on to completing our stage fabrics. First up is a valance to be placed along the proscenium arch just behind the Grand Drape. This will provide a huge aesthetic improvement for all presentations by hiding the electrics, lighting fixtures, and the future central public address sound cluster from view. It seems like a small bit, but will make a dramatic improvement in your cultural experience.
Lighting and Sound Improvements
There is nothing that can replace the experience of a Broadway show. Experiencing the best actors and voices in the world awash with bright lights, dramatic sets, and crystal clear sound is unforgettable. We have had some outstanding productions in the past at The Center, with wonderful talent and beautiful sets. Anyone who has been to our shows cannot help but notice that our basic light and sound equipment is certainly in need of a little extra horsepower. We owe it to all of the dedicated people who have spent weeks and months preparing for a production to let them be seen and heard with excellent technical resources. We can do it only with your help.
The Summer of 2008 Musical
BACAS had originally intended to present Rodgers and Hammersteins "Carousel" as our summer offering. We have learned that The Belfast Maskers (a great group of thespians located just across the Penobscot Bay) are planning to produce Carousel this year, and we have decided to choose another show. South Pacific and The Sound of Music have been discussed, and we will know very soon which one. Stay tuned!
